About Gary Masur

I spent 33 years working as a banker before I became a mortgage broker in Calgary. I watched this city move through oil booms, rate hikes, and slow years, and I learned how each one hits a homeowner's mortgage differently. Working inside a bank for that long, I saw good clients get turned down or pushed into the wrong product just because they didn't fit a standard box. I got into brokering because too many people still needed someone who would sit down and explain their real options instead of just quoting a rate.

I'm RECA licensed and hold an FCSI certification, so my advice is backed by formal training as well as decades on the ground. I started my own brokerage after seeing too many buyers sold on rate alone while the real risk sat in the fine print, especially with Bank of Canada rate changes and tighter stress test rules making qualification harder every year. My business exists to give Calgary buyers, self-employed clients, and newcomers a broker who looks at their full financial picture, not just the lowest number on a rate sheet. That is still what I stand for today: advice first, rate second.

I was born and raised in Calgary and raised four kids here too, so this city is my community as much as my client base. I've been a Scout leader, volunteered with the Calgary Police during the '88 Olympics, helped found the Mu Lambda Chapter of Kappa Sigma, and served as president of a local BNI chapter.
